HOW TO PUT HAIR IN A PROPER BUN:
Instructions for making your dancer’s bun perfect!
DIFFICULTY LEVEL
Easy!
THINGS YOU WILL NEED
- Hair tie (In performances- the hair tie should closely match the color of your hair so that it is not too visible; in class-any color is fine!)
- 3-5 long bobby pins
- Hair gel or pomade (optional)
- Comb or brush (optional)
STEPS FOR YOUR PERFECT BUN
Step One: Part dry or damp hair on whichever side you prefer and comb straight
Step Two: (Optional) Add some hair gel or pomade to straighten and give hair the slicked back look
Step Three: Pull tightly into a ponytail (medium high 2 1/2 inches from the nape of your neck)
Step Four: Grab the end of the ponytail and wrap it around the hair tie (creating a bun) in a clockwise motion until the length of your hair is fully wrapped around the hair tie in a bun shape.
Step Five: Take three of the bobby pins and push them in at an angle towards the center of the bun. The pins go in at an angle towards the center of the ponytail at: 2 o'clock, 6 o'clock, and 10 o'clock. Add extra pins as necessary. Securing with a hairnet before inserting the bobby pins adds extra hold!
TIPS & ADVICE
- The bobby pins can be adjusted to hold down your hair.
- Additional bobby pins can be added, just make sure to keep them close to your scalp so they are out of sight.
- The ponytail can be higher or lower depending on the look you are going for.
- The ponytail can be tight or loose, depending on the look you are going for. (Please keep it tighter for classes/performances so your hair does not fall down).
- Don't put in too many bobby pins! They are a hassle to remove if you add too many!
- Keep extra bobby pins and hair ties in your purse/dance bags in case you need them!
PARENT RULES
PARENT CONDUCT IN STUDIO
Parents are not allowed in dance rooms during class times.
No negative attitudes are allowed at our studio.
Please be sure and control siblings of dancer. Children are not to be running wild through studio. Please make sure they are being respectful to other students, siblings of students, parents, instructors, guests, and so on.
Parents are not allowed behind front desk at any time for any reason.
Parents are not allowed to answer the phones at any time.
PARENT CONDUCT DURING PERFORMANCES, RECITALS, COMPETITIONS, OR PUBLIC APPEARANCES
It is the parent’s responsibility to get their child to where they need to be before stage time. The child must be dressed and ready to go upon arrival.
All parents need to conduct themselves in positive manner; please, no coaching child from audience.
Parents are not allowed backstage ever at competition; again, no coaching or being negative.
If this happens, it could result in the parent’s termination from the studio, competitions, performances, etc.
The same rules apply in the studio; no coaching, critiquing, or criticizing your child from the studio doors during class time.
TUITION, FEES, COSTUMES, AND ALL OTHER PAYMENTS
Parents are responsible for all payments: enrollment fee, recital fee, 3 costume deposits, monthly tuition, dance apparel and shoes, and any other items necessary for the dance year
(Parents must sign our form agreeing to this before your child can dance)
All tuition is due on the 1st of each dance month and will be considered LATE after the 5th. No exceptions. There will be a $20.00 late fee after the 5th of the month; No exceptions, and No excuses.
We do not prorate the prices during the year, and neither do other studios. We follow the same calendar as the public schools. We do not have a full month in December, but you will be getting the first week of June free since it is a short month at the end of each year.
If there is a problem with this, we can discuss an all-day make-up day during Christmas break.
COSTUMES
There will be three mandatory costume deposits to make things easier on everybody and spread out the payments. Each deposit will require $20.00 per class (classes that do not have recital dances are excluded- i.e. Turns/Leaps/Extensions). So if your child is in three classes, they will need to pay $60.00 at each costume deposit due date. ($20.00 + $20.00 + $20.00 = $60.00) If you overpay, a credit will be given to your account for the month of December to be used for whatever you choose (tuition, fees, apparel, etc). If you have a deficit, the balance remaining must be paid in November. All of these dates will be on your yearly calendar and you will be reminded of these due dates throughout the year. The costume deposits will be due in September, October, and November, as we have to have costumes ordered no later than December to ensure arrival in time for recital photographs and the recital.
MONTHLY STATEMENTS AND MONTHLY E-MAILS
Monthly statements will be sent out with any balances due or unpaid, conventions coming up, fees that will be coming up, apparel that needs to be ordered, fund-raising opportunities, future performances coming up, and so on. Please let us know if you are not receiving your monthly statements and e-mails so we can get this fixed so there are no misunderstandings. If I do not hear from you that you are missing out on these, we will assume you are receiving them. Please be expecting them.
